Folsom Field: Sports at Their Best

I read an article this morning on a brilliant idea whose time has come. Many Americans love sports, and everyone knows the experience is better in person. There is no way attendance at stadiums is going down any time soon. However, have you ever seen the sheer amount of garbage left over after a game?! The bleachers are absolutely covered in trash and half-eaten food. The article I was reading on the new york times blog was about Folsom Field, an innovative stadium. Folsom Field has reduced its waste by 80 percent! Click the link A College Football Stadium Cuts Its Waste taken from the New York Times Green Inc. Blog, to see how this stadium implemented their innovative plan to reduce its waste.

The thing that amazes me is that it cost them next to nothing. The college lends a. hand through regular volunteers and clearly marked bins to make the system run smoothly. They have also set in motion a pan to reduce waste by using biodegradable containers.
We could all learn a little something from the volunteer spirit and insightfulness of this stadium.

Starting today, I am gonna post a blog roll of must read environmental blogs. Maybe that will be something people want to see. I need some feedback folks! Please let me know what you want me to change (besides the fact that I need to write more frequently :->)
